Lots of action at the GRE this morning. They were switching the yard at 6:30. At least 15 cars to go east, most for King, until the train was behind the trees. The usual Amtrak too :)

There was a manifest off the Toledo Sub waiting to get in Stanley this morning at 8AM (has since yarded) with CSXT 4848 leading it that I'd like to get the symbol on.

Thanks!
Michael

I can't seem to parse anyone's radio calls today.

At 03:42 there was an eastbound passing CH 79.9 (Dobie Road, Okemos), running 1805' ad 128 axles. When it called Clear Okemos I thought I heard a "204." (CSX 204 came through WB on Q327 last night, FWIW.) When it called Clear Meridian I thought I heard "334-14." (But that's way too early for Q334--right?)

At 10:21 there was an eastbound passing CH 79.9, running 4275' and 280 axles. I heard it call Clear Okemos and Clear Meridian without getting any useful information other than that the voice was male...

Anyone have a guess as to which symbols these were?

Was it 3:42 at night
if you heard that at night the train "334 clear Meridan" was Q334 to Toledo that train passes through anytime at night.

The other eastbound you heard might have bean a local or one of those grain or coal trains that CSX runs through Lansing everyonce in a while.

I have have the CSX Lansing schedule on my website Lansing Trains - http://nsted1582.googlepages.com/home that might help you

Mikekmac - that 3:42am train... probably Q334. Left GR at 1am, got to plymouth around 5am, so that sounds about right. CSXT 204 was indeed on Q33414 as well.
Dunno about that 10:21am train though..maybe someone that can see length and car counts might be able to help.

Y@, CSXT 8887 arrived in Russell KY on Q32013 at noon today.

MDH - CSXT 4848 was on Q50613, Cinci to Toledo train, finished parking at Stanley at 11:15am.

Yes, AM, military time.

I thought I knew the Lansing schedule fairly well after a year of watching. That's why I questioned whether it could be Q334. Looking back through the recent sighting threads here, I find:

7/13 - Q33413 - hasn't left Grand Rapids yet 07:03
7/11 - Q33411 - PLYMOUTH HI RAIL MI CC 81 07-11-2008 08:57
7/06 - Q33406 - TOLEDO STANLEY OH QT 5 07-06-2008 10:45
7/04 - Q33404 - WILLIAMSTON MI CH 73 07-04-2008 08:39

I guess I've been noticing the days that Q334 is an after-dawn train at Lansing, and missing the days that it's an oh-dark-thirty train.

Is there a usual call time for Q334, the way Q327 is most always 2PM at Rougemere?

I think this was D708-14:

12:38 EB at CH 79.9 (DD at Dobie Road, Okemos), 1730' and 108 axles, CSX 2675 (?).

Maybe D709. D708 goes west out of Lansing, not east.

Thanks for the actual symbol on that. They've already got that power turned onto Q637 and 4848 was getting set to depart Stanley at 1PM as I was coming back from lunch.

Michael

Sounds like the FRA is "milling around" NS Hughart Yard in Grand Rapids today. Tower just told B47 to watch out as they are "milling around the yard and to be careful."

PS: CSXT204 came in last night on Q327 from Detroit. Power was left on west end of the yard. I figured it was going west on outbound Q327 but they must have put it on Q334 as 204 was headed east.

Odds are westbound and evens are eastbound, except when they aren't?

I get so cornfoozed sometimes...

Are you familiar with this site, Ted?

http://groups.msn.com/chessiechapter/cs ... sions.msnw

I'm not sure how recently it's been updated, but it's got a pretty extensive listing of all the trains that run on both the GR and Plymouth subs.

Mike, I've seen 334 leave around midnight, and I've seen them leave around 9am (got a picture of them on a Saturday morning last month leaving GR). It would be nice if they left GR at dawn every morning. :)
