Woman at Fostoria...

Does anyone know the woman at Fostoria who constantly hands me flyers and bags and miscellaneous crap I don't wan't every time I go and won't leave even if you tell her to? She says she's with the historical society, which I can belive, but I've had enough of her shenanigans. She always comes at the worst times, talks through your videos when a train is coming, says she's not trying shoo you out even though she makes me want to leave even more than I did previous to her appearance, refuses to let you disrupt her constant babble to go catch a train that you'll miss or leave, even if you should have left a half hour earlier and you'll probably die if you're ten minutes later getting home. Also, does anyone know her "mobile hours" so I can avoid her a bit easier? Thank you VERY much.

Oh lord...you have met the force that is Ellen Gatrell She is known to drop in anytime and harrass railfans and run her mouth. She's a pathological liar and a manipulative b####, and she just loves to alienate people, and hates it when you disagree with her. When you see her all you have to do is leave or tell her that you don't give a s### about what she has to say...then she will leave you alone..or make fun of her...I did that and she hasn't said a word to me since.

LOL i can only wonder...not that i want to find out either Ellen is in her sixties and is this petite little woman...What she makes up for in short stature though is her big mouth and is annoyingly persistant and brash behavior. One time she was talking to me and she said she called herself "the Bulldog" because she grabs ahold of your attention and never lets go. when she said that, i thought to myself. "Not only does she act like a bulldog, she resembles one" Ellen doesn't seem to care if she's being aggressive and annoying.

Cody...if she does it again talk to the Fostoria Chamber of Commerce or the Mayors Office and lodge your complaints there..we have.

Wow, I had no idea my post would provide such an interesting thread of good venting and funny comments!

Almost everyone who visits Fostoria seems to have an encounter with her, and they USUALLY all say the same thing... Harassment at its most annoying stage. The last time I saw here, she absolutely bombed into the gravel just as we were leaving the depot platform by Front St., and cut off our path to the "getaway car" (at least when it comes to her) in a van with a metallic tan paint job. As soon as she appeared from behind the 20 ft. containers, I knew exactly who she was. She went on and on about how we didn't have to leave, even though I clearly stated to her that we had to get going to get back home before midnight or so. But no, on with the rambling and her comments about seeing me cross platform to platform to catch a good glint shot instead of walking down to Front St. and crossing there. I finally had to say, "We have to leave or the three of us will die horrifying deaths when we get home." After roughly five more minutes of blah-blah-bulls***, we were finally able to get away. That was one of three encounters so far, and definitely the worst. Apparently, I'm also less of a man than two of my friends due to the fact that I checked in with my mom while she went on and my friends sat there and put up with her happy horse s***. Also, apparently if I check in with my mom instead of listen to her crap, she'll no longer have a son to check in with. So basically, listen to her bull-yam-salad, or you're officially designated to death row by CSX or NS Revenue Freight train. Thanks, Ellen! You're the f***ing greatest!

She's been on this railpark powertrip since 2005. I was living in my native Bellevue at the time and was a frequent visitor to Fostoria before she showed up that year, certainly a curse and a boon to railfans everywhere.

As I have read this thread I have yet to figure out if she is malicious or just an eccentric old woman who is obnoxious as hell, or maybe just a very lonely person who has figured out that railfans are really nice as a group and takes advantage of their niceness to fill her loneliness.
With very lonely people you often cannot have a conversation with them because they have so much to say that you cannot get a word on edgewise.

Whoa, hold on there. Who's offended by anything? Not me. And why your defensiveness??
Is she malicious and threatening or is she obnoxious and a nuisance? Big difference between the two.
I take it from your avatar that you are a young man( self pic presumably), and I know that young men have NO time or patience with OLD people, especially OLD women, who annoy them. I can remember being that age myself
If she is dangerous or threatening, then call the police, if she is a nuisance, then do whatever is necessary.
As for faulty logic, won't be the first time I have been accused of it, and as I get older, I think I will hear it more often.
