For the third time, and the second time in less than a year, a Triple Crown combination truck-train has derailed on the curve in the tracks north of Venice Road.

Has NS bothered to look into this? It seems from the article at least one of the derails was a short cut on maintenance "In October 2007, a similar incident involved 17 Triple Crown trailers, carrying toilet paper and paper towels. That was eventually traced to a too-short air line connector between two cars; the line came loose as the cars moved around the curve."

Re: Triple Crown derails again
wow, the secon derailment today.
Re: Triple Crown derails again
Since the roadrailers in question were filled with paper goods (basically empty), it seems like there might be a stringlining problem with these extremely light roadrailers. Maybe NS should consider lowering speed for roadrailers around certain curves where stringlining forces are higher.
