NS possible inspection of CFE?.......

Unread post by bnsf8000 »

Has anyone heard anything on the possible NS inspection train on the CFE lately? The last I heard around June 28/29 it may tour the CFE from the FW board. :D Or if it's true or not? PW

Thanks for the quick response. One of my railfanning buddies has a friend who's an engineer for CFE. He gave him a grin when he asked and said he couldn't say anymore about it for now. Plus they had already hirailed the CFE on May 2 WB and seen In Convoy, OH and east of Lima.

This will be a move with the NS Office Car Special, including their F units.

I'm gonna assume the NS OCS will come from Altoona through Crestline then onto the CF&E then? I'd appreciate any info and updates as this nears closer, could be worth a drive for me from Columbus to Mansfield to chase from there. I doubt I will ever see an OCS on this line ever again.

I've heard they're going to Chicago first, then depart Chi-town and head east from there. They'll get on the Pennsy main at Hobart and head toward Crestline from there. I definitely advise catching this train!

Indeed, same routing I've heard as well. I will also concur, photos of this train are highly advisable.

Since it's going to be coming at me out of the west is there anyone out there willing to provide text messages to inform me of it's where abouts. There's a good chance I'm going to be working the 28th and 29th, but It looks as I may be able to get out of there for a little while to see this. I live just east of Lima, OH. I would sure appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jim

I will do my best to pass along any information I get about its whereabouts as it makes its way east.

Correct.

Has the route and date of the deadhead move west been set in stone? NKP? Water Level?

So the eastbound trip over the CF&E is set for the 29th then? Or late in the day on the 28th?

I heard through the grapevine it is being expected in Bucyrus around Noon on the 29th, but I'd stay tuned for sure.........

That Guy I wondered if they might do that . Figuring if it came into FTW on the NKP WB. Really probably no reason to go west Chicago/Hobart already use trackage rights on it. Could they still head east on the 28th from the Fort? Or just tour on the 29th? :D PW

Posts on Indiana Railroads and Train Orders indicate it should be staying the course on the Chicago Line, whereas here in this thread indicated the NKP to Chicago on the 28th.

I guess that question may be answered a bit later this evening...

Last report by a reliable source was that its past MP 256 on the Chicago Line, which answers the question of which way the dead head move is taking to Chicago.
