Piqua, OH

Unread post by TrainWatcher »

Whats the traffic like in Piqua? On my way south back to Dayton I saw that the south end of the siding is protected by a CPL. I would presume anything that goes thru Deshler south or northbound?

most of the interlockings between Toledo and Cincinnati have CPLs and most of the intermediates have newer safetrans signals.

Dumb question but what control points on the Toledo Sub. don't have CPLs besides Sidney Jct.?

That I didn't know but don't forget Erie Jct and Eureka Street (which is a new installation) in Lima.

James the local comes down from Lima? and switches three customers and they are, Berwick Steel aka Precision Strip, Component Structures on Looney Road and Poly Source on Statler Road. They are by far the busiest and who have their own trackmobile who takes the loads that the CSX local drops in the switch and then go pick up the empties waiting in a nearby stub track.

Is Berwick Steel actually getting confirmed traffic?

Precision Strip is a separate company located 14 miles south at Tipp City, but it too is served by the D744. Don't forget the Crayex plastics transload facility located just north of the north end of the siding, adjacent to the M.V. Center mall.

I haven't seen cars at Berwick any time I go by. Also what is the switch job based near the Cargill Elevator at Sidney? I notice CSX parks a Geep there.
