They really built that in a hurry! Any idea when the last 106/107 will operate via Galatea/Fostoria?

May have been today. Its scheduled to be in service Monday as the ballast is getting dumped Saturday and surfacing work will be done over weekend. Not sure if 106 and 107 will operate to North Baltimore over the weekend

Well a guy that I know got pics of a Q106 with KCS power sunday in fostoria. So Iam guessing that was the last 106 to run fostoria.

I believe both trains ran their "usual" way today, and are profiled to do it again tomorrow. May be the end of the week before Q108 and Q109 actually begin.

Had problems getting ballast dumped over weekend. It will likely be mid week or end of week till 108 and 109 begin.

Less than a month left until Q106/107 go back to their old routing. Here's the final Q106 of 2012 at Crawford today.

Myself and our son, along with Y@ and others all converged on Fostoria to chase Q106 down the C&O, we had a good time and was able to get a few shots as well:

1) Q106 heads east out of Fostoria past the East End of the Fostoria Center Siding.

2) Believe it or not, we were able to catch up to the train again at Carey:

3) Finally, through complete dumb luck, Q106 stopped and cooled its heels just west of the US 30 signal in Upper Sandusky, apparently SA Tower was occupied by a CF&E train! Talk about timing. After the CF&E man clears, Q106 stomps out of Upper in the midst of a snow squall.

Enjoy,

Q106-07 *should* be the first train to operate direct to Marion. Appears to have a 1900 scheduled arrival time at Marion. Nothing on Q108/109 as of this morning, but they might pop in today as the profiles are activated.

I had heard that the full plan was not being implemented until 1/21/13. Has there been a change?

Profile is back to NWO again, so someone may have jumped the gun a bit. That, or the system still thought the changes were going to take effect as originally planned on the 7th and 8th.

So you can keep your Taco Bells for another 2 weeks.

Looks like 2/11 is the target date now for the change to a Q109 turn out of Marion. 2/1 us the projected date the n/e eye will be put in service.

Didn't realize that there's now a loop track at the Marion Intermodal site?

That was mention in the email to the Unions I saw. I was surprised too. I thought it meant they were putting a switch out of the east end, not that they'd built an entire loop! IIRC there used to be a east switch into MED off the Indy Line. ROW with rails was still out there, but it was in a woods. I guess that means no more backing into MED for Q106. I wonder if that means they'll be using the KCS power to run the NWO block out of Marion then? Pull in, make the cut on NWO and right back in from whence you came.

That's interesting, because the "preferred" way to get 106 into the yard is to have the train pull down to CP 105 and have the power run around the train so they don't have to back the train through town. I would have to imagine 107's departure is orchestrated much the same way, but I've never personally seen it.
