We will be going to scout locations Aug 11th. Do they have a way of turning the locomotive or will it lead one way and trail back? Also judging by the photos I've seen it will lead south if they cannot turn it?

Perhaps I've just been ignorant, but it seems to me like locals could make good money opening up their land for shooting during steam runs.

Then again, I don't think many "foamers" ask for permission in the first place :(

The CVSR runs through a National Park FWIW. The rails are owned by the NPS and the CVSR operates them.

Based on past history for the two hour round trips it'll lead south and then be pulled back north by a diesel on the other end. There are no wyes or other means to turn the engine in the valley for those trips.

And I've already bought my tickets. :D

Thanks! Hope they have the RS3 on the north end!

Last time we saw them a couple of weeks ago they had a C424 leading south and a LTEX GP15 leading north. I'd rather catch their regular freight locomotives, I'm not a big fan of streamlined power.
