I'm heading to Chillcothe early Saturday morning to do railfanning, and my main question is what is a typical Saturday train count for the Norfolk Southern? Also what are some good locations to do railfanning of the Norfolk Southern through Chillcothe?
Thanks Railfan9

Re: Norfolk Southern Through Chillicothe
Roll of the dice with Chillicothe and NS in the morning. Could be anywhere from zero to four or five. Usually there's a westbound loaded coal train that rolls thru Chillicothe anywhere from 8:30 to 10 am. That's about the only steady train in that time frame. You might luck out and catch a few more. CSX seems to be much more active in the morning hours.
Southern Ave down from the Glatfelter mill. Water St and the bike path where NS crosses the Scioto River aren't bad. Depends on the direction of the train and the light at the time but somewhere south of Chillicothe along 3 Locks Rd on the single track section.

Yes they all are gone in the area. You need to go to Portsmouth at Spring Lane to find a set and they are supposed to be taken down next month.
The B&O CPL set at the mill might still be service. Drive across the overpass at the mill and look east towards NS and you should be able to see if they are still in use. If so take Eastern Ave and just past the ODOT garage is a dead end side street you can get a pic of one.
