A shout out to Y@ (and yes, I knew what it meant, just pulling the "dumb butt" card) who I met at DR yesterday. A good time was had by all...to bad we had to leave. Railohio, get better man, you're to young to be sick long term.

A few from the past few days. Despite the ribbing I am getting on my new image capturing device (Sony Alpha 500), it's a good camera thus far. For those of you who like to poke fun, it should be noted that Sony makes the sensors for Nikon and Canons. Since thy purchased Minolta, I think they will be a camera line to watch. So far, I'm impressed.

First, on Friday, we see G784 parked at Lima on the former Erie main line awaiting a crew. This grain train was loaded at Elgin, Ohio.



We then see Q501 with a new SD50-3 rebuild heading south bound:



Saturday takes us on a quick road trip to Deshler to meet up with a friend for Michigan, we happen across K185 with the 525 leading, this was the same locomotive that led the infamous runaway down Sand Patch. The back lighting left very little options in terms of the contrast, but we gave it a go.



Power of the day goes to Q339 which we manage to shoot twice. Observers will note that CSX Is painting the CPL signals around here...hmm...







A few more trains sneak by as we chat with others at the park, I end up shooting on Q389 with UP power:

I've been using Sony Alpha cameras since 2007. First it was an Alpha 100 and now an Alpha 700.

I have no regrets. These cameras help me amass over 600 accepted shots at RP.net, and I've made over $1000 selling photos taken with the 700, some railroaded related and also some stock shots of other subjects.

Ahh there's nothing better (worse) than a railfan discussion over a new camera. There's certainly no argument to the fact that only the best and most expensive name brand camera and equipment will always overcome the owner's lack of talent and knowledge. If you don't believe that, hopefully during your next trip to the Corn City someone with one of them fancy cameras will set you straight. Sounds like they tried to convert you this weekend. Turn the camera and point it at a train. The rest is magic

Cameras are a lot like cars in this sense. GM proved it with slapping Cadillac badging on a Chevy Tahoe and charging $20,000 more for it. We in the automotive business call this "little man's disease"..........

I'll answer for CG Tower. The shot is west of Main St (Lima, OH) near Erie Jct. I'm quite familiar with the area as a Lima native. I used to hang around the Erie Jct area a lot back in the day.

The old Erie at this location (between the CSX connection and approximately Shawnee Road to the west) is now known as the Lima Industrial Track and is controlled if you will by the CSX yardmaster at Robb Ave.. RJ Corman has to get permission onto this track. Grain trains to and from Elgin are pulled onto the LIT and a Corman crew takes it to Elgin for loading.

I could tell it was west of Erie Jct, but was still wondering if it was near the Greenlawn Ave. crossing, east of the Metcalf underpass. Looked like a good morning shot with not a lot of clutter.
