Unusual Move On CSX?
Unusual Move On CSX?
On the way home from work today I saw a BNSF loco pulling 6 maybe 7 older looking locos with the old blue & yellow Santa Fe paint scheme. Anyone have a idea where these might be headed?

This was prolly part of the 23 Unit consist spotted at Toluca, IL a few days ago. All GP38's going to join their GP30 brothers at LTEX.

Part of that consist was 2-3 ex-Los Angeles Junction Railway CF7s and one of the only units that had the blue-bonnet scheme with yellow BNSF logos (Similar to some of the warbonnet SD75Ms and Dash 9s).TrainWatcher wrote:This was prolly part of the 23 Unit consist spotted at Toluca, IL a few days ago. I shot the entire consist in full out West of Ancona Illinois. Pretty crazy seeing a flood of Santa Fe come rolling down the Transcon for the last time. 27 units in total. 2 BNSF GE's on each end.

Interesting the LAJ shed the CF7's, been a major staple for some time as they were Santa Fe's main port power, even with that MK1200 around, but the advent of Gensets prolly put the bullet in the coffin. The CF7's might be sent back out quick, but I can only think of 2 CF7's that is at museums, and that's the one at KRM and the newest addition to the FWRHS fleet got from Louis Dreyfus. And to point out, the CF7 rebuilds from the Cleburne, TX shops were a great light powered switcher, they'll find a new home faster than a GP7/9 rebuild. Only issue would probably come to be parts.YpsiAmtrakBoy wrote:OMG SOMEONE SAVE THE LAJ CF7S!!!

Would like to see some final photos of the LAJ CF7's if anyone got any... I am planning to get down to Ft Wayne and take a detailed look at their CF7 hopefully next spring.
