TLEW News?

Unread post by Racer »

Has there been any news in regards to the issues that have been previously discussed on here? According to the "Friends of the TLEW" Facebook page, there has been work going on in the "yard" in Grand Rapids, OH and plans to fix the culvert. Is this true or are these rumors?

The real TLE&W group has been working to restore the Whitcomb switcher and one of their coaches for operations for the Applebutter Festival. The "Midwest Rail" TLEW has been quiet as of late, but ramblings of trackwork down there have been heard of from time to time. Still all those DEEX coal cars down there too from my understanding.

Looks like NS has shoved a fair sized cut of hoppers onto the Cloverleaf for storage.
I'm just here to put in time claims and complain

South of where the stop sign (was or is), they are visible from Old 24.

It's just south of where the NS ended and the TLEW began if that helps.

Cool. The more car storage the better. Hopefully this will be a good revenue maker for needed repairs, etc.

So what's new, most everyone complains about trains these days. They don't want them in their cities. If the trains are already there they don't want them using their horns. If they come in the day the people want them at night, If they come at night then the NIMBY's want them in the day. Etc. Etc. Etc.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

I saw that TLEW tore out some track (around 200 feet?) around Providence, OH recently.

Unless I am mistaken, Providence is on the opposite side of the river from Grand Rapids. What railroad line did they take out? Was there an industry spur there at one time?

The mainline. Is Midwest Rail tearing out lines not being used for storage now?

Uhhh, Midwest only uses the portion on the eastern end for their operations (1.6 or 1.7 miles IIRC from the last thread). TLE&W owns the track up to that point. Not sure why they would cut them selves off like that as their existing road doesn't go much farther west. Are you sure you did not see them out there replacing ties?

I saw them cut the rail, then drag it away. It tore up the ties along there, and then they left. Also, they took away all spikes and tie plates too.
