Deshler Fire Pit removed

Seems some young "fans" lit a fire during the high winds, using inappropriate materials. Left, and did not extinguish the fire. The result was the sheriff and Deshler FD responding and putting the fire out and removing the fire pit. Also, it is noted on TO that law enforcement will now be watching for ANY fires.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Granted, we can't be sure that the perpetrators were railfans...

MQT3001, let me say it like this. Someone saw who it was, and considering the car was plastered with Conrail decals, it's safe to say it was a railfan.

Well those are details that were not yet shared, so how are we supposed to come to that conclusion before that?

Well then yes, hopefully that railfan feels a good deal of sorrow for ruining one of the best perks of Deshler.

I'm not sure who the car with Conrail decals is, but the Conrail Hyrail truck hasn't been to Deshler since last fall. The last two weeks, it's been helping me move to another home anyway.

I've almost always sat in the opposite corner anyway. I railfan mostly at night, and I feel there's better lighting there.

I'm not sure why some Deshler visitors insist on having a roaring fire no matter what, including during 90 degree weather!

Deshler has always seemed so laid-back. I'm not sure I've ever seen law enforcement near the park. I do usually see the mailman, who stops to use the porta-potti!

Mid teens. From my understanding from the person who saw them.

It wasn't uncommon for a fire to be left unattended.

A new ring was installed in late May at the Railroadfan meet.

Ugh. Isn't it obvious though that they're not railfans, and up to obvious mischief?
