Indianapolis railfanning info

Unread post by Ohiorailfan »

In a few weeks I will be making a weekend trip to Indianapolis. My goal is to catch the NKP 83 on the excursion trains in Noblesville as well as to catch the Indiana Railroad and Louisville and Indiana railroad. My question being...when and where can I see the INRD and LIRC in action in the Indy area?

Thanks!!

LIRC can be long for a train or if you're lucky, you'll see one LIRC in Indianapolis. INRD spots are probably near Senate Avenue Yard, Southwestern Indianapolis or the E. Harding Street IPL Coal Plant, not on it, but near a gravel road, which is public to all. INRD usually supports coal all the whole year too. Hoped that helped somewhat. Thanks.
