Hey all,
I have a quick question on the NS Chicago Line. Is there usually a dead period right about now? I was seeing train after train in Porter but here at Ogden Dunes (the NICTD station) there hasn't been anything.
Thanks!

Re: Quick Chicago Line question
Day by day seems to change, but yes, around mid day sometimes it dyes out. Usually most all the morning trains have ran, and evening departures will soon start.NSSD70ACe wrote:Hey all,

PS, N903 will go through their in about 2 minutes. Just now knocking down CP 491 at 14:12 EST. Next train looks to be around CP 509.

Re: Quick Chicago Line question
Yeah I think I saw 903 and the two behind them; one was an Amtrak and the other was a coil/mixed freight, both EB.
I also ran into a group of 5 railfans here at the station in a tan Mercury (whatever the Mercury variant is of the Ford Crown
Vic). Anyone here know them? One of them was wearing a HS jacket (Crusaders?) and an CNW hat.
Thanks for the help,

Re: Quick Chicago Line question
It's always slower immediately after major holidays. If shippers don't ship then there's less traffic, sometimes a lot less.

Re: Quick Chicago Line question
In my experience the Chicago Line is usually pretty quiet between 1 and 3 pm.
