Would anyone by chance know the current L&I locomotive roster?

Should be

GP39-2
2371,2375,2376,2378
All in green scheme

GP38-3
2001-2004 (rbt from Gp38 cores)
2005-2005 (rbt from non dynamic GP38-2 220,221 and 223)
All Tuscan red scheme

GP11B
1802 (ex ICRR GP11 with cab plated over)
Green scheme with "Special Service" markings.

GP11
1801, and 1803 probably stored at Jeff yard

There have been some CEFX leasors around

LIRC has some slugs, but they are now used as shoving platforms only.

The four running GP16s are now gone, But a long stripped out GP16 hulk is probably still in the weeds at Jeff Yard

The two SD38-2 have returned to the South Shore Freight line.

Did they have a GP50 or two on the roster?

Sweet, thanks. I assume you meant 2005-2007? I noticed those are GMD built units, also noticed they extended the fuel tanks when they rebuilt them.

What was the purpose of the GP11"B"?

They run it in between two of their other units.

They didn't want to upgrade the cab to current glass specs. Also costs a bit to maintain a cab.

Saw 2005 & 2007 tonight at Jeffersonville yard with 30 steel coil cars. Units were facing north who would this be for?

That might be the regular train.

LIRC has been getting some overhead traffic via the INRD. Yes I meant the INRD.

As a condition of getting rid of the south end, INRD is still offering CHI LOU service.

It's really convoluted. But here it goes.
CSX Haulage for INRD CHI to Terre Haute
INRD runs from Terre Haute to CSX in Indy via Jasonville.
CSX yards the cars at Avon from the INRD to the LIRC.
LIRC haulage for the INRD from IND to LOU. LIRC interchanges to the NS K&IT.

The exact reverse of this route is also used.

Yes this makes my brain hurt and your brain hurt too. It was never intended to be a serious routing. INRD expected the traffic to be routed other ways. However.. CSX and NS have been jacking rates up to no end on stuff like this lately. INRD has not. So the INRD LOU CHI routing has remained competitive.

The CSS (South Shore Freight) has been using this routing extensively to route steel cars south out of CHI

Also, one of the GP39-2 has recently returned rebuilt like the GP38-2s. It's numbered 2303.

LIRC also interchanges traffic for the Port of Jeffersonville with MG Rail in Watson, to the northeast of Jeff Yard. I believe there are a number steel companies within the Port.

The coils cars i see have CSS reporting marks, with loads moving south. I believe the coils are coming from Burns Harbor. CSS and LIRC have the same corporate parent, Anacostia.

I've looked and cannot find that they ever had GP50's. I'm confusing them with someone else :? .

Thanks, LakeATCS. That must be what I saw but couldn't see the radiator fans so I thought is was a 50.

The last GP39-2 order was built in GP49 bodies. Hence the confusion with the 50 series.

Built for the Katy (MKT). I believe most have been ousted from UPs roster... working for shortlines now.

This summer the arrangement described above has changed slightly, the ISRR now hauls traffic from INRD to NS via Oakland City, away from the LIRC.

The coils are still moving between the INRD and LIRC (via CSX), suggesting they are terminating in Jeffersonville.
