CN Train Derails in Matteson, IL.

Unread post by Jochs »

A CN train derailed today in Matteson, IL, a suburb of Chicago. There was an evacuation order but it was lifted later when it was determined that chemicals leaking from the derailed train posed no threat to nearby residents.

ABC 7 Chicago has posted an hour long video of the derailment site shot from a helicopter.

I guess it’s really soft ground there and some rough track from what I’ve heard. That was train X39691 that derailed - Champaign to Toronto. Cars that were in the block to be set off in Flint were the ones that tipped over.
