Wow, what a mess. I'm glad no one was injured.

Re: UP on the ground
Thats the 2nd major derailment off that bridge in the last 3 years. CP has trackage rights on that stretch of the Milwaukee Sub too. It was a CP train that derailed back in 2009.

UP has the line back open, but a judge has issued a work stoppage at the site to preserve everything. The couple found in the car was a well known lawyer in the Chicago area and his wife. They lived in a subdivision only a few hundred yards from the accident.

If the bridge is out, how is the rail line operational? Did I miss something?GTW6401 wrote:UP has the line back open, but a judge has issued a work stoppage at the site to preserve everything. Re: UP on the ground
They filled in the gap where the bridge was with stone, and got the line operational again. Of course the street is not passable until the bridge gets made.MQT3001 wrote:If the bridge is out, how is the rail line operational? Did I miss something?

Re: UP on the ground
UP trains have been running for a few days now. CP has now returned some of their trains to the line as well, although some trains are still detouring through the city via Tower A-5 into the east end of Bensenville and on the IC&E as well.
