Chicago, ns 63rd st. yard.
just wanted to know some basic info on the trafic movements of this yard. Whats coming and whats going on a genrial basis. Where is most of the traffic from this yard headed & on what lines?
Re: Chicago, ns 63rd st. yard.
Try this: http://www.nscorp.com/nscintermodal/Int ... go_63.html As a rule of thumb, add 3 hours to cut off time. Looks like 4-5 trains, all ex-Conrail to at least Harrisburgh. In the past the fastest trains came out of here, and the 20E schedule is pretty darn fast.
All of the traffic from 47th St. Yard and through Ashland Yard will come through on the mains too, which is substantial.

Used to be all just TOFC as they didn't have the ability to load well containers. That was one of the spotting features of the trains going to Park Manor, all trailers. CSX originally had the yard post split until 59th Street was 100% operational when control went back to NS.

24M, 20E/K, 21J/M/Z, 23Z, 22W and 294 All use Park Manor. I have in the past set out UPS here when 55 was too plugged to off load it before continuing over to 55 with the k.
