I was looking on there websuite and i didint find anything about an interm does anyone know if CSX has a interm program or NS also. thanks

CSX, NS and most other class one railroads don't have interN positions at the entry-level position. I'm assuming that's where your at because if you were going for a white collar internship, I would think you'd be able to spell a little better than that.

NS has all the requirements listed on the employment section of their website, but if your just in High School I would worry about what I was going to study in college before trying to find places to work.

Typically its 18 for the minimum age to work most places in the USA.

Most Class Ones require you to be 18 with a high school diploma/GED and either 2 years of college and/or 2 years of full-time work experience. It also depends which area you are looking to get into. Track, mechanical, TE&Y, etc. With thousands of employees furloughed, you may be waiting a couple years before railroads start hiring again.

It depends on what type or work your looking to do after college. You need to first pick a field of study, then decide what colleges offer the best type of training in that area.

I linked some requirements and an NS co-op in my post above. As has been said several times, it depends what area you are looking to get into. I chose the full-time work route as opposed to the college route as I was turned away for not having enough work experience at the time of my first interview. After I had 4 years of full-time work experience I was hired as a conductor. I was trying that entire time to get hired with any railroad. My first interview was after I'd had one year of full-time work experience. Several interviews later, after I'd figured out what they wanted, polished my interviewing skills, I lucked out.

What area of the railroad do you want to work in? Management, sales, train crew, track structure, signals. You have not told us yet.

For the management / sales side, get a masters degree business management, marketing, or accounting. For the train crew side, I would do four years in the military. For track structure, get a civil engineering degree. For signals, go to a school like ITT Technical.

Be prepared to wait a while.

There are well over 7500 furloughed in T&E alone system wide on the CSX right now. They 'aint exactly looking for people.

Try RailAmerica. Seriously. If you don't have a preference on where you live or the hours you work, RA will provide some experience.

The advice of a four year tour in the military is no BS either. They love ex-military folks. Take orders, no questions.
