Pinconning to Alpena is the Huron Sub which sees two trains per day (one in each direction). These are trains 326 SB and 327 NB. The travel mostly at night.

From Bay City to Gaylord is the Mackinac Sub. It sees one train over other day or every few days. It runs on a random schedule. The train will come South on day A and back North on day B. They may repeat this again if necessary. Every once in a while they'll run up to Gaylord.

326 does not handle any grain cars. If you saw the big covered hoppers they were for flyash which LSRC hauls up to Lafarge in Alpena. If you saw the small (2-bay) covered hoppers they are for cement which LSRC hauls from Lafarge to Bay City.

Doesn't matter if it's 327 northbound, or 326 southbound.. if 326 southbound doesn't carry grain cars, then 327 going north doesn't either...unless LSRC is storing grain cars, which is highly doubtful. What goes up usually comes down, and vice versa.
