Trains Mag did a nice article about Detroit around 5ish years ago. At that time they reported 20-30 "movements" per 8 hours, IIRC. Whatever the number was back then, it's probably half of that now, just my WAG.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

Not that this is terribly helpful, but I've always found mornings to be busy at Delray. Mid-day is dreadfully slow.

See ive always had decent luck around 2 in the afternoon at Delray. I usually go there or Wyandotte during the afternoon this time of year since the sun works good for south bounds.

The road that goes right next to the tower (I think it's Dearborn St.)

Which side of the cement plant driveway? The reason I ask, is because that PITA CSX cop, named Karcher told me the whole area was railroad property and I couldn't stay there. He told me I had to leave the area! He goes out of his way to hassle trainwatchers in the Delray area.
He told another friend of mine, who parked on Dearborn avenue a ways back from the crossing, that he couldn't get out of his car and walk up to the crossing when a train came by, to take pictures.

When it warms up a little. Are you still standing out there all evening freezing to death?

Hey. When are you down there. When is it busy? Afternoon? Evening?
