Coe Rail this weekend?

Unread post by CAT345C »

Well I got the schedule for Coe Rail with hopes of shootin' the 10a.m. train this saturday the 23rd, anybody going to be around? Santa should be onboard. I also noticed that the prices sky rocketed with the new owners. $99 dollars for a 3 hour exursion, its only 3 hours because they have horide track. Anyways, I should be around if anyone else is.

Ok, actually, I have a few questions on Coe Rail.

>Now, I know that Coe Rail is a dinner train. Does anyone have a roster list for their locos and coaches?

> Who owned the branchline before them?

> Where does the branch end? (Begins in Novi)

> Who would replace the track?

>Now, I know that Coe Rail is a dinner train. Does anyone have a roster list for their locos and coaches?

> Who owned the branchline before them? GTW sold Wixom to Wood Pecker Lake in 1984. It is an 8 mile segment of the Michigan Airline which begins in Richmond and goes through Romeo, Pontiac, Walled Lake, Wixom, South Lyon, Lakeland, Jackson, Homer, Three Rivers, and ended in Niles. It was cut back several times during it's history.

> Where does the branch end? (Begins in Novi) See above

> Who would replace the track? Owner of the line

Coe starts in Wixom just north of the Pontiac Trail/ Wixom Road Crossing see Wixom station on RRHX, as I have a shot of the current interchange up http://www.rrhx.com They operate a SW2 Loco:

They also have one or two Ex Canadian F7s from Toronto I think. A black NW2? I know its a black switcher and a F7a In Erie Paint,

the Line terminates at Orchard Lake Road I think. They serve a lumber yard, and plastic toy factory and one more industry I think.

I'm not going to pay 99 bucks for a train ride, since you could ride the empire builder for 110. I plan to drive to different crossings, since the dead as dirt track speeds allows for perfect pacing.

Here's the Roster:
52, Alco S-2 switcher. Currently Out of Service
725, EMD F7. Used on the dinner train AND Freight trains, when they run them.
1512, EMD SW1200, former GTW 1512. Used on freights, and the family train excursions.
The other F-units are Ex-AMT Montreal commuter units, and are currently in storage.

Gregg, 52 is running, I saw it in ether may or april at the beck road crossing on my way from OTC back to my high school, shoving one covered hopper at 5-10mph. I have also seen the frieght operations, the F7 on one end, and a switcher on the other. Very interesting to watch.

Heres the interchange at Wixom they still use the old main line track for pickups since they cannot run around the train.

The CSX Saginaw Sub is the only line they interchange with, and that would be at Wixom about a 1/4 mile timetable north (north west) of the North End of Lincoln Yard which is the soon to close yard that serves the Ford Wixom Plant which turns out the hand made GT1 (formula one wana be car) Licoln Town car, and another lincoln car. They used to make the T-Bird but they stopped production. Its really cool because I see the GT1's all the time on there test drive go by my house.
