Why does on the front of the locomotive say GATX and on the side of the cab say GMTX? And what do they stand for?
Love all class 1 railroads in USA and Canada, and short lines in michigan

GATX stands for General American Transportation. GMTX is the reporting mark they use on their locomtives. Read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GATX

Um, no. They really were called General American Tank Car Corp. way back in 1916. In 1933 they changed their name to General American Transportation Company.
