B-34

Unread post by A No.1 »

I guess this is probably OLD news. But I had been under the impression that B-16 was the Jackson to Battle Creek run for the NS. I guess the crew would often die in Albion. Now B-34 is the daily Battle Creek to Jackson run.

I beleive there is still a B-16. Anyone know where it operates?

It would be better if they just ran 38E straight to Jackson , instead of dieing in Wayne.

B-16 still runs to Albion and switches there and then returns to Jackson
B-34 picks up everything in Battle Creek, runs to Jackson and swaps cars, then back to BTL
B-56 gathers up everything in Jackson brought in from the 16, 30, 34,and BJ01 jobs, runs to Wayne and returns, switches Jiffy and 4 Mile as needed

BJ01 is now B22.
Have heard B56 also go to Battle Creek and also go to Jiffy.
On a side note B30 earlier this week had a pretty good cut of Steel coil cars going up the Lansing secondary for a change.

B34 is the daylight Battle Creek-Jackson shuttle. B56 is the Jackson-Wayne (and the connection to the outside world) shuttle that also services Chelsea Milling and Chelsea Grain when necessary. B16 is the Jackson-Albion local. B22 is the former Jackson yard job, BJ01. The NS likes to change everything to traveling road switcher (local) classification. Fewer bizarre work rules to deal with and more flexible working limits. The B30 and B28 share duties on the Lansing Secondary.

It may be a night job, but it's currently the best job in West Michigan.

TODAY, I got a DAY TIME B-57. Caught them switching Rock Tenn and then they headed to Augusta for Knappen milling.
