Unread post by CharlieX90 »

Just heard from Trainwatcher who says he heard on the radio that a train struck and killed someone at Van Dyke.

Hasn't there been 3 or 4 total (peds walking into trains) in the last week in SE Michigan?

Ecorse, Lansing, this and I think one more but forget where...

NS 20 V struck and klled a person running west on Visager rd. in Ecorse on 11-2-10 about 7:20pm. The van train from Livernois yard w/ 7 cars was travelling about 39 mph at the time of the accident.

There was a fatal pedestrian train accident on the CSX in Lansing this past Saturday. I heard that he(?) was just walking down the middle of the tracks, crew couldn't stop in time, and he didn't hear or was not cognitive that there was a train.

How can you not hear a train coming. If you are deaf, why would you walk down railroad tracks between the rails. Makes no sense. Even suicide is a lot easier with sleeping pills. Who wants to die under a locomotive. Just makes no sense.

I was just in Chesterfield today stopped at red light on 23 mile road and saw a dad take his toddler out of the car parked next to the tracks, take his child by the hand and they started strolling down the middle of the tracks. How dumb are people not only trespassing but walking your child down the tracks definitely not the brightest ideas. If a train came along unexpectedly would he be able to get his child to safety in time.
