Two Adrian and Blissfield GP9's # 1758 and # 1760 just came through Mason at 0745 northbound. Took a photo with my cell phone camera but came out blurry.
Tim, if I remember right there was only about 6 to 8 boxcars and 3 or 4 coil cars.

What I'm trying to establish for the historical record is the first day of operation for the J&L. If they weren't part of a NS train then they must have gotten this power in Jackson that morning and this would be the first J&L train to operate on the Lansing Secondary. A Buster Manning post of 10/21/10 at 3:48 am said he saw them on NS B90 at Ypsilanti but I assume he saw them on the 20th and didn't post until the 21st.

I must be missing something...or did this thread get shorter all of a sudden. This used to be several pages long. Yet all I see it 7 posts now.

EDIT: Oh I see the other thread...way down the list now.

This is the second thread on the JAIL, they need to be merged by the admin, please.
Firstly: Reporting marks are not J&L, they are JAIL.
Secondly: there is no more NS local, gone, now JAIL leased and operated by the Adrian & Blissfield, ADBF (which owns JAIL).
Thirdly: Date of start was split into three dates: Paper Oct 1, Actual Oct 16, Fiscal(revenue) Oct 21.

Second unit 1760 has been at RSDC when 1758 is out on the road, and/or vice versa.

Anyone have copies of the STB documents that were linked to in this thread? I tried to view them but the site says internal server error... maybe temporary but it seems like those docs are off the web.

One big happy thread!
Thank you, thank you!

The Surf Board decision came on 10/1/10 to be consummated on 10/20/10. From posts on this site, It looks like operations didn't start until the early am on the 21st.

So..... interesting info, went by Hallow (Hollow) yard and there are 15-20 tank cars set for interchange with JAIL. I'm basing this assumption on the fact that there are another 10-12 tank cars sitting in Saginaw yard of the same make type and age. They are all chemical or the like (some none toxic), and they all have expired DOT certifications. Perhaps they are going to be scraped.

Also... there are two IW low end bulk head flats with plate steel loads, sitting on a different track than the Tanks.

Have they finished tearing down the last of the GM plant next to Saginaw yard, and is the MCM GP9 gone, that used to be parked there?

Tank cars sound like scrap or storage :?

I think Alro Steel gets the steel plates. Seems like I read they get a couple cars a week but I can't confirm.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

They have been done a long time, maybe a year, or so.

Will Saginaw Yard play an important role in the establisment of the JAIL? can they establish a small traffic base out of there to what they already have now?

Retired January of 2009, and with the accident I was in, hadn't had the chance to check it out yet. I heard MCM had the GP9 up for sale, wonder if they found a buyer?

It's still sitting in Ashley-Hudson east of 69 and south of the INER.

That MCM Geep in Lansing was an ex CNW GP7. Built as Rock Island 1284, sold to CNW, renumbered 4197, had it's nose chopped.
