Unread post by donnieland »

returning from working out at evergreen commons at 1245pm found
q326 blocking 9th ave csx 7581 and 36 cars waiting on red over red at holland, they cut the 9th st crossing at 100pm to get traffic moving,
talked to the conductor a min. this is a recrew bringing 326 home, the rn
wasn't answering them, they felt they would clear soon.
waited at the eastside amtrak parking area intill 115pm then headed
home, they were still waiting, with 8th st traffic lights at red it was a
traffic mess,
when passing west waverly on waverly rd saw y121 coming west to zeeland, hard to believe rn ( lisa ) held 326 for y121 to come out of the yard to go to zeeland, 326 was moving east to the siding after y121 cleared west waverly. about 125pm

326 cleared detector 19.1 at 256pm csx 7581 - 3729. 270axles - 66 cars

meanwhile at 242pm x500 is stopped at helper ( ab signals east & west
at the start of the east saugatuck hill grade south of the river bridge about
a mile or two ) as rn was trying to get the hi rail to clear the main to let
500 come east

x500 - eb - cp 9782 ld & 8702 trail - 5938' 268 axles - 84 cars ( 40 stack
cars lead and 44 auto racks trailing

You must have been very close nearby Donnie.. at 1:20pm, I had my Taco Bell in hand, headed north on Waverly Rd, and got to the crossing near Taco Fiesta as the gates went down, watching Y121 pull east to head to Zeeland with their Chessie caboose in the lead, covered hopper, engine, then loaded centerbeam. Parked myself at Taco Fiesta at that point...
Q326 was shuttling around the yard after Y121 cleared... is odd to have Q326 hold up in town waiting on Y121 to move.

My woman just rang me up... said she was coming up to Breton St in GR, gates go down, HLCX 8150 goes through... asked if it was a westbound, said yes... I'd assume that's Q335(actually Q327) getting into town on time this time.

Could have been Q327 also. HLCX 8150 went east yesterday on K351.

What the hell...why wouldn't they just procede into the siding just north of the depot?

Someone definitely F'd up today.

"Move that piece of S***! You're blocking traffic!!"

"Sorry, I can't"

"What do you mean you can't?! Just pull it onto that extra empty track down there!"

"Sorry, I need permission to do that."

"Of course you do, because it makes too much sense to just do it on your own!"

JT, if you run a red while running a train, it could be your job.

Good to hear that you saw those trains Trevor... yes, turned out to be Q327 going by with the HLCX unit..got stuck at Pleasant St, red signal that wouldn't turn. Sounds like Q335 had just made it into wyoming yard before them. Q326 headed off after Q327 cleared, then X500 made it's way east too. Q326 and X500 are set to meet K352 somewhere near Lansing says the dispatcher.

Oh, I know, but the average Joe who is sitting irate in a car doesn't. Hence my little exchange. That's why I said "someone F'd up today." No reason why they shouldn't be able to fit that train in north of 8th St.

Poor planning, poor dispatching, poor whatever. Someone F'd up.
