Amtrak Great Dome: Michigan Bound

According to this article, Amtrak's "Ocean View" great dome car is scheduled to operate on trains 352 and 351 the day before and day of Thanksgiving. Great opportunity to see this Heritage fleet former GN dome car in retro Amtrak Phase III colors in the mitten!!

The dome car is scheduled to operate on the following Lincoln Service, Saluki/Illini and Wolverine Service trains to and from St. Louis, Carbondale and Detroit/Pontiac on the following dates: Trains 301 & 304 on Nov. 17, Nov. 19 and Nov. 25, Trains 303 & 306 on Nov. 18 and Nov. 26, Trains 391 & 392 on Nov. 21, Train 305 on Nov. 22, Trains 300 & 352 on Nov. 23, Train 351 on Nov. 24, Train 393 on Nov. 27 and Train 390 on Nov. 28.

Unless I want to pay 64 dollars for a round trip, Ann Arbor to dearborn ( thats the normal price all the way to chicago!) that is not happening sadly. I will try my best to photograph it.

I'm riding to Chicago from Battle Creek on Black Friday. Suppose I'll luck out and get a chance at the dome?

unless it runs an extra un-planned day, no. The plan is for it to head out Wednesday the 23rd on 352. Then return Thursday on 351 (I think, it's in the link above).

Current expected schedule for the dome...

trains 301 and 304 Nov. 17, 19, and 25; trains 303 and 306 Nov. 18 and 26; trains 391 and 392 Nov. 21; train 305 Nov. 22; trains 300 and 352 Nov. 23; train 351 Nov. 24; train 393 Nov. 27; and train 390 Nov. 28.

Will be a quick turn around between 300 and 352.

300 gets into town at 10am, and 352 leaves at 12:16pm.

Amtrak 352 just came through Ogden Dunes, IN with the dome car at 2:01pm central time. Good luck, in michigan
