I honestly need to get on here and whine about the crap we get from you guys sometime. Like cars with a bad order tag in it. Or a cut off of Old 17 and an air slip saying cut away at 1145 and having to make up all the hoses. Or the "empty" gondolas that are full of slag or cubed metal all the way up to the top. Or the complaining that "omg there are 62 cars we have to pull out of here with one engine!!!!" If you came more than once a week, that wouldn't be the case. Not to mention, six axle units are only allowed on 24, 7A, 1A, and the Runner. Notice I didn't say 8 track. Just sayin.

Brakey. I've been watching the Watco site real close. Look's like GDLK is hiring more often than not. Can't you guy's keep people? As for the car fleet's out there, Lotta cars got one foot in the grave. MQT has a run down collection of PCA boxcar's leased from GE. CSX has car's out running around older than I am. Had a CSX lime car that kicked when I took air today. Don't touch that! Ever try running up north using just dyno? I like the new sand cars they got . Would look better in the Chessie scheme though.

Not sure how old you are, but 327 last night had one of those old ACF cylindrical hoppers that I believe were built around 1964-65. That car has seen just a bit of service

But I like how the twist of the panties makes me feel! Something about the rate of the twist multiplied by the repeated company administered bending overs.... :P

I don't get to see the cars all that much, I just pull the throttle. The cars on Old 17? We are obligated to take them because our customers need the cars. If we refuse them, then other than a couple of customer's pulls in GR, the road train would have nothing to take to Elkhart or interchange with the CN. Not to mention Kzoo customer cars. On that note though, I agree with you....but here it is difficult to have that mindset, because since we aren't paying a certain set of dues, if you get what I mean.... ;)

As for you guys not coming over, we were told it was because there was no one who was qualified. In Yard Limits, no less. I tried that with Herbie, told him I wasn't qualified to run my engine all over the yard to get back to the east end, but hey, it is Yard Limits lol.

Sliding doors that have to be closed to move? Blasphemy!!!!

At least the Old 17 is being used for something other than storage.

Would this be you?:

Got this one completely on accident. Was on the way to the library, and as we were coming down the hill the flashers lit up. Had my tripod with me, set it up, and got the shot.

How many cars does CSX originate/terminate on the GR/GR Terminal/Plymouth Subs, and how many do they interchange with the Shortlines (MMRR, GRE, GDLK, MQT....)

I do not know about specific numbers interchanged with CSX but I have some estimates for total carloads per year:
--GDLK: Around 36,000 per year
--GRE: Around 1,000 per year
--MQT: Around 15,000 per year
--MS: Around 7,000 per year
Feel free, anyone, to correct these.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

how does GDLK get TWICE as many cars from CSX than MQT?????
Also, I just was interested in a percent of the cars CSX handels itself as apposed to shuttleing them for the shortlines. Don't need a actual percent, just a pretty close one. Is it about 50%, 75%, 25% to shortlines? My guess would be at least 50% to shortlines......but I know little on the subject....

I'd like to hear it Dok. I'm loving reading what you guys have to say about what is really happening on the ground.
