Re: LSRC Siding removal
I suspect that Mershon will be up next on the chopping block seeing as the power swich at Carrollton Rd has been removed since last year(maybe 2yrs) ago
Re: LSRC Siding removal

West of Mershon has been pulled. The rail is stacked, and tie plates are in piles, waiting to be picked up.

Re: LSRC Siding removal
Mershon is if they still call it that, the Dean Sub of the SBS. Blackmar is the Saginaw Sub. Mershon Siding started at Bay Rd. in Saginaw, and ran to Mershon interlocking. Blackmar Siding is aprox. MP 11 (about 5 miles or so south of Bridgeport) or so and ran from Townline Rd. to the end of Blackmar Rd. I grew up at MP 8 on Blackmar just short of Riverview.MQT3001 wrote:IS this the Huron Sub?

Re: LSRC Siding removal
Ive seen a few meets at Blackmar during the LSRC era, but most of the other sidings I can think of are currently full of stored coal hoppers, particularly in Saginaw. So I guess they will have trains wait in Flint or Saginaw to meet each other.

Re: LSRC Siding removal
I can remember all these sidings being used i remember Blackmar being stored end to end with auto-racks back in the early 1980's 1981 to be exact. Mershon siding being used by the west side Saginaw belt train there was several times when being at Mershon tower in the late 1970's it would have a Chessie SW900 in run 8 with a huge cut of cars. They can still use Birch Run siding if they want to.

Re: LSRC Siding removal
Is the short branch to the abandoned US Gypsum plant at Alabaster still being used to store empty coal hoppers?
