First of three Steam Railroading Institute's 2013 Fall Color Tours was Saturday over the Great Lakes Central's Northern District from Cadillac to Boyne Falls.
GLC 392-399 provided the power.
Some sunshine, some rain and some overcast weather greeted the passengers on their trip.
One crew member reported it was nearly soldout, hopefully everyone onboard enjoyed the colors and trip.
Heres some pictures from my chase.
Billboard, just south of Antrim, promotes and expanded US-131 freeway. I believe its message would be a hard sell to the excursion passengers.
At the Boyne City Gaylord and Alpena overpass site, 392-399 move their train northbound.
Arrived at Boyne Falls, the passengers transfer to shuttle buses for trip to either Boyne Mountain or Boyne City for dinning and shopping.
While on layover, SRI-GLC ran a 1 hour sidetrip north of Boyne Falls. Here the 392 begins the trip.
With the shopping, dinning and side trip completed, the train is seen again at the BCG&A overpass on its way south.
Along the way back southbound, I caught them passing two former PRR depots.

Very well done trip report, KC! Still managed some nice shots even with the weather. I wish I could get up there to fan the GLC, looks like lots of neat places to get a shot. Always enjoy your reports

Very nice photos, KC. I especially like the photo of the return trip going under the ruins of the BCG&A overpass. This maybe a stupid question, but was the BCG&A, a railroad?

In the third photograph down where the train is stopped at Boyne: is that a railway platform that the train is parked along? It this the location of the former station because that platform looks pretty new to me.

A few of those pixels may be me in the vestibule of the first passenger car.KC wrote: With the shopping, dinning and side trip completed, the train is seen again at the BCG&A overpass on its way south.
