CSX GRE Train Location Update 11-29-07

Unread post by Raildudes dad »

All quiet at the GRE after the busy day yesterday. No CSX or NS delivery. Amtrak has #8 (thanks JT -I can only see the little lights on the trucks this morning) and 3 Superliners.

Just heard something coming into Holland over the scanner - thought I heard them call out that they are in engine 6060 (or 6061)??? Maybe I'm hearing that because I just posted to the location update thread for yesterday about SOO 6060 on X500...

Zack...not really sure. i thought it was 2801, but the train caught me by surprise and I was trying not to cause an accident to get to the tracks.

It was a CSXT dark future, actualy both engines were. It had a couple coil steel cars, and a few hoppers. So, what ever train it was, it was really over powered!

I heard them as they went through Holland, but the signal wasn't very strong - that was the post I made earlier when I thought they said the lead engine was 6061. 2801 would be a GP38-2.

EDIT: Just re-read the original post from Steve H. - sounds like 2801 was the second unit, not the lead number that I heard. Steve - did the second unit look like it could have been a GP38?

That's what I thought too, Tim. 2801 sounds like a really familiar number that I've seen in the Wyoming yard. I'm SURE I've taken a picture of it at one time or another, but I can't find anything right now.

D80130 is in Holland...but how can that be? It's the 29th today! Maybe my scanner is receiving messages from the future...
Someone call the crew and get them an updated calendar!

EDIT: Just looked at Zack's post - there is D80130 listed...I guess I don't understand when the origin point/date of the train is determined. Maybe someone can help me understand this - thanks!

What was the loaded east bound coal train that went through Zeeland at 12:20? Pumpkin on the lead and a cream and green behind it.

then I just missed something at 12:50 also going east...I could see the cars as I came down 104th, but had no idea of the power.

CSX 2801 is a regular around here. I'm sure that's what it was.

On the drive home going eastbound on I-196, passed a CSX pickup, with a large CSX MOW vehicle ahead of it, carrying two axles with wheels attached...much the same setup I saw the other day going west.

At 6:25pm, heard N95628 going through the Thornapple area, with Q33528 coming out of the siding at Fox heading to GR. I believe D80130D was also in Holland.

Q32629 - TROWBRIDGE MI CH 84 11-29-2007 21:06
Q32729 - GRAND RAPIDS MI CG 1 11-29-2007 20:30
Q33429 - TOLEDO STANLEY OH QT 5 11-29-2007 12:55
Q33529 - GRAND RAPIDS MI CG 1 11-29-2007 19:05
CP X50027 - MICHIGAN AVE CONX MI CH 11 11-29-2007 19:16
CP X50028 - still in Chicago (maybe we'll have a friday running X500 then)
K90528 - at Toledo(Toledo to GR lime)
N95628 - WILLIAMSTON MI CH 73 11-29-2007 21:18

D80329 - GRAND RAPIDS MI CG 1 11-29-2007 14:40 (had the BNSF 6098 and BNSF 8846)
This BNSF 6098 and BNSF 8846 was N90327, then D80129, then D80329.
D80130 - WELLS MI CG 42 11-29-2007 18:28
D80230 - not moving yet
N90329 - at Chicago
E94928 - KIRK MI CG 71 11-29-2007 21:02
E94929, E95029 - at West Olive
Not finding any E945 or E445 in the system guys.... dunno what donnie saw around Q326, unless that was N956 with the D800 powers.

Tim, on the D800's... for example, let's say today is the 15th..I've seen D80114's, D80115's, and D80116's running on the 15th.

For today, they started late last night with D80129, then D80229, and then we had D80329 start early this morning. Rarely do they call a D80529(D804 very rarely used).... so they went on and started with the next day, and started on D80130...since I don't see any more coal coming yet, things will get back in order with the symbols matching close with the date.
Wonder if that made any sense :)

How in the worls did Amtrak make it all the way through Holland and nobody posted about the private car that was on the end. 508 was gone, but it had three superliners and a private car. I couldn't catch the number, but it was dark green and the drumhead was in blue neon script and I belive it said "Nancy".

Anyone know who's/what it was?
