LSRC 326 2016

Unread post by CSXBOY »

HI everyone, I am going up north on August 5th to Oscoda/Greenbush MI with some of my family. The LSRC have not changed anything with 326 and 327 since last year right? My biggest problem is the days. It is August and they are getting shorter.

What time has 326 been departing Alpena?

Will I be able to go to the Harrisville depot and catch him before dark?

Will I be able to catch him at the US 23 crossing in Greenbush in dusk?

WIll I even get to catch at the Kings corners road crossing before Pitch black? Or will I have better luck at Wissmiller road?

Thanks Graeme Case

They are usually departing south for Tawas between 5-8pm.
That being said, they most likely not be by Harrisville before dark.
My advice, catch them heading south at Alpena and call it good.
326 and 327 usually meet at East Tawas about 2 or 3am.
So you may be able to catch 327 at first light.
If you don't, call it failure and do it again another time.

My advice would be to stop in Bay City if your driving up on a Friday. You can actually find trains moving in bright sunshine and its not a big detour off I-75.

Thanks for noting that also. While not directly related but still on the topic of Lake State, today's CSX M322-02 is bringing the three former FEC leased CITX blue SD70's up to interchange with Lake State. Conflicting reports as to whether they're just storing them for CITX or actually leasing them to use.

Also, does the Sunday morning Flint turn still run Sunday morning like it was last year? As I recall that's usually a weekday evening job but runs mid morning-ish on Sundays?

How early do you think 327 will get to Kings Corners road in the morning?

Way before you're evening considering a wake-up call.

Train locations determine when my wake-up call is :D

Let's try 2-4 am. Total darkness and probably closer to bedtime than summertime wake up.

I was in Bay City Tuesday and saw 4 trains (2 LSRC and 2 HESR) without much effort in about 2 hours from 10am to 12:30pm.

Just a suggestion, and BTW, you can see the locomotives that will go north there also.
