Looks like there's a chance that GTW Pacific 5030 could be leaving the park in Jackson for a new home and restoration in SE Pennsylvania on the Colebrookdale Railroad.
Jackson Mayor Derek Dobie announced Friday on Facebook that a sale agreement has been negotiated (see https://www.facebook.com/derekdobies/po ... 8445284679). The agreement is subject to approval by the Jackson City Council.

Well, if they are going to run it, they will have to build a wye, or turntable, or return loop, as they have no way to turn it. Unless they are cool with backing 9 miles in one direction.

They couldn't just run it backwards?joeyuboats wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 6:48 pmWell, if they are going to run it, they will have to build a wye, or turntable, or return loop, as they have no way to turn it. Unless they are cool with backing 9 miles in one direction.

Pretty sure Colebrookdale has a runaround track for their GP-9, why would that not work for the 5030?joeyuboats wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 6:48 pmWell, if they are going to run it, they will have to build a wye, or turntable, or return loop, as they have no way to turn it. A passing siding will work with a diesel, as they can run either way. A steam engine usually is made to run just one way----or they can run it in reverse for 9 miles. it is their choice.

Lots of tourist railroads run their steam locomotives backwards for half the trip. It is what it is.

See-----just like that!!!
Re: GTW 5030 may be going to Pennsylvania
It would be nice to see the 5030 stay nearer it's home rails. However if it stays in the park in Jackson it will continue to deteriorate and be at risk of scrapping. The GTW 5629 might be the best known but there are others that deteriorated to the point moving them was too costly and they were scrapped.
