I heard Ford would keep 3 platforms for if passenger rail ever returns to the area. And with the Chicago to Tronto line. I won’t be surprised

While plans can and do change, it's not in the current plan.

Knowing how ford operates that plan has probably changed 3 times since that was published. If nothing else MCS is no longer going to be their hub for electric vehicle development, that's moving to Blue Oval City in Tennessee.

All the platforms and supporting steelwork for the passenger tracks are gone. The support structure and platform for the express track, and structure for the 7 freight tracks (only 2 of which now exist) are still there. There's certainly enough room to build a couple of platforms and passenger holding tracks.

Ford has vaguely indicated at times that it would be supportive of some passenger service, but any and all initiative and spending on that (including on any necessary passenger/Customs building space) will have to come from MDOT and Amtrak.
