G&W intentionally sent ISRR 3388 for MQT use so the numbers of all four 3300s there would be consecutive.

Amended the first post to include the 3388, as it is northbound through Cornstalk Park right now. It has been exactly 5 months since the 3389 hit the road in her new paint, that was September 25th.

I highly doubt it was to keep numbers consecutive...

Indiana Southern intentionally sent that unit because the MQT damaged one of their own and the fact its one of the less reliable SD's down here. Numbers had nothing to do with it.

Aside from the NREX 3181 that arrived a few weeks ago, another NREX unit, the 5418, just showed up last night. It is an SD40-2 built 8-1976 for the KCS, #673. It was later bought by CP, who for a time retained the number before re-numbering it to 5418. Then it was added to the NREX fleet, where for awhile it held down a job hauling ore in Minnesota. After what appears to be a period of dormancy, it is on the MQT.

So it appears two area photographers will not be seeing this unit for the first time! And this unit is no stranger to Wyoming Yard

Word around The Thumb has HESR 2025 as the next unit to receive the G&W paint scheme. Last week I heard that the paint crew was back in Bad Axe but could not confirm it. My contact at the HESR sent me an email stating that 2025 was going to be the next victim. Keep your eyes open along the Huron and Eastern!
