It's not Forest Lawn. I was looking up that site on the Web and here is what I found:

I know this is sort of a lame question but did you drive via the freeway or a surface route to the local?

If you can't remember where it is, then how can you remember where it's not??

Not ForestLawn... Forest Lawn had 8 windows across the front.

Not North Yard Tower... North Yard Tower looked like it was 1.5 stories tall, as opposed to 2 stories tall.

One location I never visited was on south side of Pontiac called PON Junction (GTW crossing GTW).... but I do not believe there was a tower there in the mid 1980s, and this photograph is kind of atypical of what GTW towers look like. GTW usually did not use brick for their interlocking towers. (I did not say always.) The track could be right for PON Junction, as well as power lines overhead. (Power lines were on GTW right-of-way from Jackson to Pontiac).

And... I may have misnamed it... it may have been called MAL Junction instead of PON Junction.... south side of Pontiac, GTW crossing GTW.

If my memory is correct, I believe we drove on both. I believe we went down I-96 towards Detroit.

I usually have a great memory. This is one occasion where I am drawing a blank. A sure sign I am becoming more seasoned as the years go by.

Not Wixom.... I can attest that by at least 1974, there was no tower at Wixom, just an automatic interlocker... plus there is a big elevator at Wixom at the crossing which is not seen in these photos.

I agree not Gould. Double track can be seen south of Gould and no overpass.

If it's not this than it's sure a darn close design if not the same...

Yeah I'll go with Gould too, the overpasses to the south west is the Ohio turnpike, the switch between Glanzman rd and the tower on the old TT to turn NE towards Sumner st yard is still off in the weeds

Also of note the main Maumee fire station is also built atop a old right away, as you approach the current NS yard in Maumee going north on Kingsford you also go over the old removed line.

Only problem there is no overpass as seen in the picture. Unless I didn't go down the tracks far enough...
