Re: West Michigan RR Abandonment Petition Coming
The ROW to Paw Paw is still all under the ownership of WMI, so besides money there is nothing stopping them from putting back everything Pioneer foolishly removed.
1223 OUT! President and Founder of the Buck Creek Central, the Rolling River Route! (2012-2017) President and Founder of the Lamberton Valley Railroad, The Tin Plate Road! Proudly railfanning with Asperger's since 1996.
Re: West Michigan RR Abandonment Petition Coming
The tracks are still present up to the town of Lawrence. Beyond Lawrence, the rail is torn out and the crossings paved over.
Re: West Michigan RR Abandonment Petition Coming
The track ends just shy of 56th street.
Re: West Michigan RR Abandonment Petition Coming
Paw Paw River Trans loading is up and functioning. Nine TCBX tank cars and a covered hopper on this new spur at 59 1/2 Street. Intersting addition to the collection of power parked behind Hanson's. C-420 no. 850 with GLLX stenciled under the cab. Painted in former Arkansas and Missouri colors. Hoping someone could trace the lineage of this unit (ex L&N)? Heafty interchange waiting at Hartford for CSX. Things continue to improve here.
Re: West Michigan RR Abandonment Petition Coming
What locomotives are currently on the property?
Re: West Michigan RR Abandonment Petition Coming
GLLX 1416, 1397, 1512, 4, 850, 921, 1017, 2480.

Thanks, I recognize the 1017 as the T-6 and now the Alco 420. What types are the other locomotives/

That T6 ,number 1017 was ALCO's final loco, if I remember correctly---originally built for Newburgh and South Shore.

Thank SD80MAC
Re: West Michigan RR Abandonment Petition Coming
I recall Pioneer buying the West Michigan out of bankruptcy for $500,000 total in cash and stock. They sold some real estate in Paw Paw for $300,000. Not sure what they may gotten in terms of scrap for the rails they tore up. I think the failure to get the plant in Paw Paw to ship by rail was their biggest failure. Glad to see the new owners turning it around.

Hanson Logistics resumed resumed shipping in 2020.lighthouse wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 11:39 pmLooking for a up to date shipper list for the WMR both online and transload … can anybody help me out … I thought it’s time to revive this long dormant thread
I have no clue who they serve via the transload, but I think it's like 5-10 customers. It's great to see the amount of new traffic they have generated on the line!

Here's my most recent video and one of the more recent ones showing the current state of things on the WMI with SD80MAC at the helm of two MP15's. He sure knows how to put on a show.

For what little these guys have they sure make the most of it, an impressive comeback from when they got the railroad from Pioneer, which was left for dead.

Re: West Michigan RR Abandonment Petition Coming
Just imagine the photos and videos coming out of that line if it were still in place all the way to Paw Paw (assuming the WMI guys were able to drum up some business there).MQT1223 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 9:23 pmHere's my most recent video and one of the more recent ones showing the current state of things on the WMI with SD80MAC at the helm of two MP15's. GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.
