Anyone know Marquette schedule this Thursday?

Unread post by TC John »

Thinking about looking for a Marquette train this Thursday. Any idea when I might catch it leaving or arriving in Baldwin, or Manistee?

The road train from Baldwin to Grand Rapids and back is typically on duty at 6am in Baldwin. Usually the previous night crew will leave the train near the depot in Baldwin, and crew usually leaves by 6:30am to head south. If things work decent, crew is into GR around 10am, back north around noon and into Baldwin about 3-4pm. Any switching enroute or delays at Wyoming Yard can hamper that schedule.
Thursday night at 6pm the crew is on duty to take this same train west from Baldwin towards Manistee and Ludington.
I'll see if I can get info for when the Ludington and Manistee switch jobs run, as they work during the week as well.
More info in the wiki for Marquette Rail: http://railroadfan.com/wiki/index.php/Marquette_Rail

admin edit: lookie at that, posted my reply the same minute you were wondering what was going on :)

The last couple weeks they have been doing track work in Newaygo. I'm not sure if they are working on the track every day or if they hold the train for a bit for the equipment to clear up. The MOW stuff was in the sidings by MAC.

Thanks, guys! I'll monitor this web site location updates to see when they leave Wyoming Yard tomorrow, and sit south of Baldwin to follow it back to Baldwin. And Zack, if you find any info on Manistee/Ludington ops, post them if you would and maybe I'll be able to find thme working in those areas earlier in the day.

Updated the wiki with Manistee and Ludington job typical times per an awesome source: http://railroadfan.com/wiki/index.php/M ... ail_Trains
Might want to head to Ludington based on that info for a bit.

TC John, be sure to get photos! have you ever tried to find GLC in Cadillac and follow them to Yuma or back north? You could always still by your old friend the GT Dinner Train! It's still for sale!

This isn't that set of cars by Conway. That's W-A-A-Y up north...about 8 miles or so north of Petoskey along U.S. 31.

edit: these cars used to be painted GT. They have been there for 20+ years and are now painted something else. I have pictures of them somewhere from 2006. ... Crooked Creek or something like that, maybe C rooked Lake, as it is right there.
