How could the yard crew in Jackson accidentally send an autorack to Battle Creek? Just following orders?Buster Manning wrote:Mis-route

When I worked on the railroad, several times a trainmaster said "get that stuff outta here ". "Where should we send it"? "Send it anywhere. Just get it outta here"! ![Laughing ](https://mail.railroadfan.com/phpbb/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Had something like that happen to me last trip we had a hot shot intermodal train out of Windsor. I got on it at Elkhart and we had 3 covered hoppers that "just had to be picked up". Train masters sometimes just don't get it. and so now there are 3 cover hoppers siting in the Schiller Park Intermodal yard just cause. sounds exactly how your auto rack got to Hinman yard

Re: HINMAN YARD
How does an auto rack end up in Hinman Yard? It's quite simple. It was a lone, misrouted car that needs to go back to Elkhart, wedged between a two groups of Battle Creek cars. Why switch it out yourself. Make one move instead of three and let someone else handle it.I work there, I know how my co-workers think. Hell, I know how I think, and that's what I would've done.
