Does anyone know how many trains run through there? it is where the Soo-Escanaba Lines Cross with the Trout lake-munising lines. what is the small "yard" there for? just interchanging Cars off of the different lines? and finally, I had a chance to pass through there recently and there was an engine dropping off a string of Gondolas on the wye (old line to st.Ignace???) Does anyone know of a customer nearby that would use those? Thanks.

IIRC there are two manifests (one in each direction), a local from Newberry appears twice a week, and a local that comes through from ??? to switch the pulp loading yard in Trout Lake and some customers in Kinross.

What AARR said. The Eastbound usually comes into town around 2 - 4 the westbound departs there around 5 is my guess. They usually use the old wye for storage not sure what would use the gondolas maybe woodchips??

Don't they have ore trains that run through there?

Not 100% ore but mixed freight. Ore is in Open Hoppers.

I was up there this week those Gondolas were filled with sand and were taken on the westbound train out of Trout Lake the day I drove through. Looks like CN is clearing a area besides the old St Ignace track line. The two times I saw the westbound train it had 3 or 4 Gondolas loaded with sand.

The first car is one of those articulated log cars. It looks huge!

I am pleasantly surprised that CN continues to handle quite a bit of pulp wood and logs.
