Just in time for the upcoming harvest season? With the MAC expansion I would asume big 90 car grain trains.

That's a pretty cool unit and the paint scheme is unique, too. I assume MMRR will not be needing to borrow HESR power anymore?

These are GP38M's. Another unit, 3801, is heading for the MMRR in Muskegon, and might've even gone up on Z627 last night.

Tomato, Tomatoe, Potato, Potatoe. GP35M or GP38M may both be correct. They were originally GP35 carbodies, so GP35M (Modified) could be considered correct. They are apparrently rebuilt to GP38 standards, so GP38M could also be correct. If they have -2 or -3 electricals then that could be added as well. Once rebuilt, the designations for units can get a little fuzzy. There seems to be enough inconsistency in these designations by railroad rebuilders and independent rebuilders to provide lots of fodder for this kind of conversation.

According to what I can find they are GP35M units:

KRR 3801 = S/N 29810, 2/1965, Built as MP 630 / MP 2008 / MP 2600

KRR 3803 = S/N 28785, 8/1964, Built as Texas & Pacific 613 (!) / MP 2513 / MP 2607

I do not know all the legalities but even though it says T&P they always had MP reporting markings IIRC

T&P was majority MP controlled starting in 1929 but was not merged into MP until 1976. These were delivered with MP buzzsaw logos but TP lettering in the buzzsaw. Later they were integrated more formally into MP's fleet. MMRR is getting both of these units.

So did they originally have T&P reporting markings?

Yes.

IIRC the way the Texas laws were for many years was that a railroad that didn't originate in Texas couldn't build into Texas or something along those lines. That's why you had companies like Missouri Pacific with the International Great Northern (in Texas) and the Southern Pacific with the Texas & New Orleans (in Texas). T&P also fell into this fold after MP bought them. I'm not sure about T&P, but IGN and T&NO were technically seperate railroads but were operated as parts of the overall MoPAC and SP systems.

Thats correct Jon, from what I was reading the government organized the railroads (giving them land and such) they were independent companies but once they were majority controlled by another railroad they were operated as a part of the larger system albeit with slightly different paint and road name...

Do I understand correctly, this unit is going to Muskegon? Is it as a replacement or an addation to whats already there.
