It goes east on the 2nd, south on the 3rd, west on the 4th
Re: GTW Santa Train
I used to "greet" in the host car on the GTW Santa Train in the 80s when I was Treasurer.
It was a good experience to meet a guy that was a nameless face at work when you went into another department's area and there he was with his wife and kids. They become more human and friendly there. I enjoyed those days.
Durand always seemed to have more people in line than the entire population of Durand.

Flint on the 2nd, Port Huron on the 3rd, Flat rock in the afternoon on the 3rd, Pontiac on the 4th, Battle Creek in the afternoon. I would imagine it'll go back to Chicago on MondayGreatLakesTrains wrote:Thank you very much! I will be posting picturesGTW4633 wrote:It goes east on the 2nd, south on the 3rd, west on the 4th

Re: GTW Santa Train
I would imagine times would be about the same as last year.
I shot the Santa Train in Wyandotte at 1:50pm then.

Just an FYI for people who don't already know, this train is for CN employees and their families only, and isn't accesible to the general public.

I am trying to see it in Mt Clemens or Royal Oak on Saturday. Thats why I was asking for the times.
Last year it was scheduled to leave Port Huron at 12:30pm but came through Mt Clemens at 12:30pm.

It never has been. I don't know how it is now but when I was there it was , I would guess, 60% employees.Conrail Jon wrote:Just an FYI for people who don't already know, this train is for CN employees and their families only, and isn't accesible to the general public.
We tried not to notice when a nonemp. went through. The best tactic was to find an employee you know
and go in their "party". We had snacks, pop and/or cider and it really was a party. On really cold days they
would stay in the station/shop whatever and come to the train in blocks. I remember a woman from the
Durand area that came every year. First with her kids, then with the grandkids. Noone in their family ever
worked for GTW and she openly braged about it. No one cared. We figured a little PR and good will to the
people that we kept awake at night was worthwile.

Its because he is a CN Employee, just like you are a LSRC Employee and cant give out info. Dont like it. Leave.gtw5812 wrote:I always love these "Top Secret"...only the "special foamer" should know post... Why even post..GTW4633 wrote:I do know the times but I can't post themmilineamtrak wrote:

I think what gtw5812 meant was: what's the point of telling people you know the times, but then saying that you can't divulge them? It's a useless addition to the discussion, and especially when that's the only content of the post, it comes across as smug.

Re: GTW Santa Train
Well, at least he replied stating why he couldn't. If the guy had asked for the times, and no one responded at all, that'd come off as smug too, I'd think.Steve B wrote:I think what gtw5812 meant was: what's the point of telling people you know the times, but then saying that you can't divulge them?
