West Leg of Wye in Pigeon

Unread post by railnut0571 »

Does anyone know the year the West Leg of the Wye in Pigeon was removed? It is still quite obvious by the cement in the parking lot that was a Wye another leg there ar one time.

I was born in Pigeon and last lived there 1978-98. This is an educated guess, but I'd say the west wye was taken out about 1969, when the land was converted to a village parking lot and the nearby Village-Township Hall was remodeled, with the fire department addition being built.

To me, the Co-op Elevator (primary customer in Pigeon and the Upper Thumb, too) has been a great neighbor to the town. They kept the east wye for car movements, of course, but were willing back then to help the town which needed more parking.

Does anyone else know any more? Please share it here.
