NS OCS through BATTLE CREEK?

Unread post by A No.1 »

So on Thursday the 20th I got a call about some Fancy Observation cars and some slick painted NS power sitting in Battle Creek around Noon or so, I missed it but was wondering if anyone else saw it or knew what it was. Anyone?

Supposedly there was a geometry train out there, I wasn't around to actually see it though....

After the description I told the guy it may have been the Geo train. He said it was no Geo train but I dont think he had ever seen the NS setup. Probably what it was.

The NS track geometry train came east through Dearborn, MI on the MC on Sat, 9/22/'12. Power was: BNSF 6173, NS 5168, NS 36 Research car, NS 38 "The Brick" test car. Train went to CR-DSAA Livernois and tied-down. Do not know when it is leaving. Was at CP Townline around 1130 or so.

Pardon my stupidity, but I assume that this went up the Elk ahead of the circus train if it was spotted in Battle Creek?

Nope did not go up the kalamazoo branch. clear cp 421 at first light going eastbound on the chicago line but it tied up the elkhart and the departure of the circus train. look at my pervouis ost and the links to my three pick of 421 and the gmo. train clearing.

I have the numbers reversed. Lead unit was BNSF 6713, than NS 5168. Sorry 'bout that. Can not read my own writing.

Does anyone know where they might be heading through next? It'd be nice to catch them going through Toledo.
