Almost looks like they took a turnout by accident.

Almost rammed into stored hoppers it looks like.

Doesn't appear to be blocking the mainline.

#350: Service Disruption
#351: Already by the site prior to the wreck...
#352: Not due out of Chicago Yet.
#353: Still showing early into Chicago...

Wouldn't it have to be a physical malfunction of a switch/train at train time (picking it) because the ITCS would kick in if the switch was set the wrong way?

IT'd have to be blocking the mainline since they terminated the 365 at Kzoo and bused around

From the looks of it, quite a bit of track damage around the switch. I wouldn't be surprised a broken rail contributes. Pretty big temperature swing yesterday, we had two broken rails within 20 miles of Avon. AMTRAK P050 either ran over one, or caused one, on the Crawfordsville Branch.

<edit> Though it appears they made a 'right' at the CP Point and headed in towards the yard. Interesting.

Looks like they took the switch after going from double track to single.

If I was you, I wouldn't be posting anything like that. Especially if you don't know the facts as you state. A news agency gets a hold of it, and they'll be taking your word as the gospel. I'd leave it to AMTRAK to release the information they want released, when they want it released.

It's the media's fault if they get stuff wrong because they don't confirm it.

As a disclaimer, I wrote preliminary all over it....

Then you better be prepared to confirm what you're putting out kid. And be prepared for AMTRAK to come after you if you're wrong. Or, just to the intelligent thing, and quit hypothesizing and conjuring what you think happened and leave it to the professionals.

And, you really think the media is going to take the time to confirm what they're putting out? Not in this day and age of getting 'the scoop'.

MQT3001, you are just so wrong on so many points that you're a ticking time bomb. You're starting to rank with a couple of other to be un-mentioned people on here that cannot and have not learned when to zip their lips or toggle their typing. You're playing with fire kid, don't yell when you get burned.....

Per Amtrak.com:

#353 just arrived in K-zoo. Not showing service disruption

Not sure if it keeps updating even with buses....?

indeed the 350. clear mp 28 east, meeting with the 38e. that would be a 7 hour late 350

this is probably a deadhead so that there will be a train in PNT for 351 to start tommorow morning, normally of course 352 would do that but they are iced in CHI. it will be intresting to see if they get the tracks fixed for...

EDIT: 352 is apperently headed into Battle Creek via the Dearborn DS.

Did they get all the cars re-railed already?

What a useless news story. Even all the Twitter has no information at all about what happened. Shocker.

352 is supposed to be in AA by 9:50 or so, looks like they got the tracks opened.

FYI: 350 was headed east past mp30 with 353s train set at around 7pm this evening.
