First Michigan G&W engine

I saw a photo of a gp38-2 at BPRR's Butler shops, in black and orange paint lettered for the Mid Michigan with its Dee/Elk logo on it. Should be shipping out in the near future engine is the MMRR 2019.

Farewell to the MMRR blue/ white scheme. I was beginning to like it ever since I shot #24 at Ann Street Yard and rolling through downtown Grand Rapids. Atleast I got pictures of it.

The logo itself looks good, but I don't know why the didn't just go with the traditional two letters (in most cases). M-M would have worked fine, MM-RR looks too busy.

The traditional practice at Mid Michigan back to Railtex days has been to use the full reporting mark MMRR.

Noted, but what obligation does Genesee & Wyoming have to preserve previous owners' traditions? The Santa Fe herald didn't include Atchison and Topeka or "ATSF", nor do many of the GWI heralds feature letters that their railroads' reporting marks use (e.g., B&P vs. BPRR).

G&W tried to preserve elements from the old logos in the new. The Mid-Michigan logo mimics the layout of the old MMRR logo with the diagonally stacked letters. Most of the other logos for former RailAmerica properties under G&W recycle some element from an old logo for that railroad.
