CN's Ex-Grand Trunk Torrez/ Torrey Yard
Exactly where in Flint is this yard located. I've only seen a picture of it from back in the early 80s during the Grand Trunk days and assumed that it was the original name for Bishop Yard. Reading through the '"Super Long CN Trains" topic, I found out that was not the case. So where exactly is the yard? Is it accessible? Is it safe? And is it called Torrez or Torrey? The book I have that contains the photo cites it as Torrez so until told otherwise, that's the name I'll use to refer to it.

It is Torrey Yard. Located on the west side of town next to the airport.

If your coming into town from the south on I75 you can't miss it because there is a big GM plant and Torrey Yard on the right and Bristol Road Yard on your left. Also there there is the interchange with I69 right there on the overpass. And like Jon mentioned about the airport, Bishop Int'l Airport is located right across Bristol Road from the railyard..

I believe CN just refers to it now simply as "Flint Yard".

I thought it was Bristol Yard.

OMGZ..It's Tyrone! Bama Sub Torrey Yard is named after Torrey Road, which runs N/S from Fenton Michigan to Flint which deads ends there at the yard. I initially thought Torrey Yard was the support yard for the Truck and Bus plant, but some consider the the whole yard to be named "Torrey". Bristol Yard which was named after Bristol Road an E/W road which parallels the yard for a bit was most likely a name for the yard in the past, but is just "Flint Yard" today. Bishop is the name of the nearby Airport. any half a dozen or the other I could be wrong..

I always thought the yard was named after Bishop airport? I know it's on Bristol but I've never known the yard to be named after the street.redside20 wrote:BamaSubdivision94 wrote:So Torrey Yard IS Bishop/ Flint Yard? Well then, I thought so but still, got excited for nothing.

According to the post above me though, its name really is Torry so I guess that's our answer. I'll probably just keep calling it Bishop anyway though.
