Anyone know who was doing the night shot of Q116 tonight. CP 6250 in Durand around PITT? Saw the guy and the flash. Would love to see the photos.

WOW!

"Good shot" is an understatement. "darn good" is only slightly closer. O Weston Link quality.

Several years ago at an auction I bid on a large box that was listed as "an assortment of of xenon strobes removed from disposable cameras, sold by a photo shop."

Since disposable cameras have fall-apart electronics to prevent accidents whilst salvaging, I figured that if I could combine a dozen halves into six working flashes I'd be happy, and bid accordingly. I won.

All 150 worked. Idea was to photograph an entire passenger train, but the idea has been held up by procrastination, cutting up 150 tall stakes, a need for assembly-line production, experimenting how far apart to space the flashes to eliminate white arcs, and designing what's probably a $5.00 interface circuit.

Aaron, did the flashes blind you or anyone else in the cab? I've only been able to ask one crew and I am curious if it is blinding or annoying?

Unlikely, Kyle. A camera flash is nothing compared to a lightning flash, and we all know what that looks like while driving down the street.

My conductor didn't even know anything happened. And he was even awake. LoL. I saw you there just in time to see the flash but not bad at all. I just wish I would have had time to lean out and wave. Thanks for the photo Mike. Awesome Shot.
