Train derailed
Troopers from the Michigan State Police and Marquette Rail staff responded to a partial railcar derailment at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on the tracks east of the Marquette Rail Yard near Pere Marquette Highway. The derailment blocked First Street at the train crossing east of Pere Marquette Highway for part of the afternoon. The Michigan State Police Hart post reported that the leaning car was empty at the time of the incident. Nearby cars had OxyChem markings, but the leaning car was marked “GATX — General American Transportation Co.,” which is a leasing company. Calls to Marquette Rail and OxyChem seeking more information were not returned.
